Asked, answer in Urdu: A short story for kids aged 8: a boy in Lahore finds a lost wallet near the fruit market and returns it
Asked, answer in English: A bedtime story for my 6-year-old daughter Ayesha about sharing, with a cat
Ayesha and the Clever Cat
Once upon a time, in a small house in Lahore, there lived a little girl named Ayesha. She was six years old and had bright eyes and two long braids. One day, a soft grey cat came to her garden. The cat was thin and hungry. Its fur was a little dusty. Ayesha ran inside and brought a small bowl of milk. She put it near the cat. The cat drank every drop and purred happily. The next morning, Ayesha had a yummy paratha for breakfast. She wanted to eat it all by herself. But then she looked at the cat sitting by the gate, waiting. Ayesha thought for a moment. She tore the paratha into two pieces. She kept one piece for herself and gave the other to the cat. "We can share our food," she said with a smile. The cat meowed, as if it agreed. After that, every morning Ayesha and her cat ate breakfast together by the garden gate. Ayesha's mother watched from the window and felt very proud. One day, Ayesha's friend Zara came to play. Zara had no lunch box that day. Ayesha quickly opened her bag and said, "Let's share my biscuits!" Zara smiled and hugged her. That night, Ayesha snuggled into her bed. She whispered goodnight to her cat and to her mother. She felt warm and happy inside. Goodnight, Ayesha. Sleep well. Lesson: When we share, everyone feels happy, even the smallest friends.
